UK Clothing Store Stops Selling Hoodie With Knife
Customer outcry has caused U.K. clothing outlet TK Maxx to stop selling the above hoodie with a knife attached. The penknife is connected to the jacket with a chain, in order to conceal the 2.5-inch blade. It was originally meant to be a promotional gift for what can only assume would be hunting and fishing purposes.
“I pulled the chain and out came this knife. I couldn’t believe it. It was actually part of the coat,” said Steve Gale, from Farnborough, Hampshire. Gale was shocked after finding the knife hidden inside the hoodies.
It is currently illegal to sell knives to anyone under the age of 18. TK Maxx recently released a statement saying that it supported and enforced “all laws and regulations with regard to the sale of knives in stores”.
“Once aware of this issue, we followed all necessary procedures to remove the items swiftly from the supply chain,” said a spokesman for the company. “It is therefore with great regret that we learn that not all items were picked up through this process. All store teams have been alerted to this and as a matter of urgent priority have now removed all related items from the shop floor.”
